Join Historic Kansas City for the 2026 Historic Preservation Awards, celebrating the projects, people, and organizations and their achievements supporting progress in historic preservation throughout the Kansas City region.
This year’s Awards will be held at the National WWI Museum and Memorial as the Liberty Memorial marks its 100th anniversary. Dedicated in 1926, the Memorial has undergone an extraordinary preservation and restoration effort in recent decades, making it a fitting setting to recognize another year of achievement in historic preservation.
Guests are invited to arrive at 5:00 p.m. for special access to Memory Hall and the special exhibition Story of the Museum and Memorial, which traces the century-long history of the Liberty Memorial and the more recent efforts to restore and preserve the landmark. A cocktail reception will follow at 5:30 p.m., with the Awards program beginning at 6:15 p.m.
The annual Preservation Awards recognize exemplary work in rehabilitation, adaptive reuse, neighborhood revitalization, preservation craftsmanship, advocacy, and leadership. Join us as we recognize the 2026 award recipients and the work being done across our community to preserve the places that tell Kansas City’s story.

Free parking is available on the Museum and Memorial grounds in the U-shaped drive and West Visitors Lot.

The Museum and Memorial’s auditorium event space, front access entrance, and “Memory Hall” exhibit spaces are accessible to guests with mobility limitations. Reserved van-accessible parking is available in the U-shaped drive and West Visitors Lot. Staff and volunteers will be available to assists guests in accessing elevators.
