Country Club Plaza: Book & Walking Tour
During the afternoon of June 17th, Historic Kansas City (HKC) will be distributing FREE Plaza Walking Guide Books with the goal of promoting appreciation of the built environment of the Country Club Plaza. We also hope to inspire discussions about excellence in design, planning, and preservation within the entire Kansas City area. With understanding, communities may be better equipped to enrich and preserve our physical surroundings.
In conjunction with the free book distribution HKC will be offering two (2) walking tours of the Country Club Plaza. You will walk among the fountains and art that showcase this exclusive shopping district. Designed by Edward Buehler Delk as the first planned shopping center in the United States, the Plaza reflects the architecture of the Mediterranean Region.
The walking tour will take approximately 1-1.5 hours. The 1st Walking Tour will start at 1:30 pm followed by the 2nd Tour at 2:00 pm. Tours start at the JC Nichols memorial fountain.
